Terms of Service

Last updated: January 1, 2025 · Effective immediately

1. Overview

Welcome to Together ("Platform," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using Together, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

Together is a community-powered platform that connects individuals who wish to voluntarily donate small amounts with individuals who are seeking help covering rent. We are not a lender, financial institution, nonprofit organization, charity, escrow service, or guarantor of any kind.

Important: Together facilitates voluntary, peer-to-peer contributions. We do not guarantee that any funding goal will be met, that any recipient is who they say they are, or that funds will be used as described. Always give at your own discretion.

2. The Platform Facilitates Voluntary Donations

All contributions made through Together are voluntary donations. They are not loans, investments, purchases, or contracts. Contributors do not receive any equity, interest, repayment rights, or enforceable obligations in exchange for their donation.

Together does not hold, manage, or guarantee any funds. Payment processing is handled by third-party providers (such as Stripe, Inc.) and is subject to their own terms and policies.

The social expectation that recipients "pay it forward" by supporting others when able is a community norm, not a legally binding obligation. Together does not enforce this expectation.

3. No Guarantees of Funding or Accuracy

Together makes no representations or warranties regarding:

We do our best to review submissions, but verification is limited. You understand and accept these risks when contributing.

4. User Responsibilities

By using Together, you agree that:

Contributors acknowledge that donations are made at their own risk and are generally non-refundable once processed through our payment provider.

5. Not a Financial Institution or Escrow Service

Together is not a bank, credit union, money services business, lender, broker, or escrow agent. We do not hold, manage, pool, or control any funds on behalf of users. All financial transactions are processed directly by third-party payment processors.

Nothing in these Terms or on the platform should be construed as financial, legal, or tax advice.

6. Payments and Third-Party Processors

Payment processing on Together is handled by third-party providers, including Stripe, Inc. By making a payment, you agree to the applicable third-party processor's terms of service and privacy policy. Together has no control over the actions or omissions of third-party payment processors.

We are not responsible for any fees, errors, delays, or failures caused by third-party payment systems. Please contact the payment processor directly for issues related to transactions.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Together and its founders, operators, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for:

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the platform is to stop using it.

8. Right to Remove Content

Together reserves the right, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, to remove, modify, or suspend any user-submitted content or account that we determine violates these Terms, is fraudulent, is misleading, or is otherwise inappropriate.

We are not obligated to monitor all content, but we reserve the right to do so. Removal of content does not entitle any party to a refund of donations already made.

9. Intellectual Property

The Together platform, including its design, code, and branding, is the property of its operators. User-submitted content (stories, photos, etc.) remains the property of the submitting user, but by submitting content you grant Together a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and use that content in connection with operating the platform.

10. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [State / Jurisdiction — Placeholder], without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of [Jurisdiction — Placeholder].
